The CareHeros App
Caring for someone with dementia is complex and navigating the health and long-term care systems can be a struggle for many caregivers. This can make it difficult for caregivers to share clinical information about their loved one with providers. Designed to be an adjunct to care, CareHeroes is a multi-functional web app that supports and educates caregivers while also providing a secure platform for sharing clinical information about their loved one with providers in real-time.

In a recent study funded by the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, caregivers who used CareHeroes for a three-month period showed a decrease in depression. Findings from the study have been published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research - Aging.
What does CareHeroes do?
The most popular feature of CareHeroes is the caregiver education chatbot.

The CareHeroes chatbot is programmed using AI and answers the most common questions asked by caregivers of people living with dementia. Caregivers can either select pre-programmed questions or write in free-text. Responses are generated from content in The Dementia Caregiver: A Guide to Caring for Someone with Alzheimer's Disease and Other Neurocognitive Disorders, written by world renown geriatric psychiatrist, Dr. Marc Agronin.

Resources include educational videos and reading material.

Caregivers can take clinical self-assessments of their mood and burden. They receive tailored feedback based on their responses to help them recognize when they need support.

Caregivers can also take clinical assessments of their loved on, which creates color-coded charts that can be tracked and viewed by providers.
